PHILLIPSON P80DFS 8 foot 5wt. Here we have a stunning Phillipson Dry Fly rod built circa 1960. This rod is unfished and totally pristine, a true collectors item. The handle is of hammer design and formation and is actually called a Welsh Handle which feels wonderful in the hand. I have lawn cast this rod and she casts a 5wt line with ease and accuracy. The rod is of a true medium action and a soft tip….a true dry fly configuration. The blank is made of Eponite glass fibre which was invented by Phillipson and introduced in 1955, it has a wonderful butterscotch colour with beautiful spiral twisting. The wraps are perfect as is the black anodized reel seat and cork handle. The rod is housed in her original blue cloth bag and square aluminum tube (cap missing). Phillipson, one of the greatest names in angling, this rod is a collector’s dream or equally at home on the streams of Colorado or the Skagit here in BC, Canada. She’s a long 2 piece rod so shipping is not as cost effective as our shorter 4 piece rods. SOLD !!.
